How the Coronavirus
is afecting Us

Updated 18 August 2022

Due tot eh decreasing numbers of infections in our area and in response to the latest CDC guidance, we have updated our COVID Safety Protocols for First UMC. We are providing both on-campus and live-streamed worship services so you can continue to worship with us online. Here are some things you need to know about our our updated protocols:
On-Campus Sunday Worship
  • Registration for Sunday worship is not required, but we ask everyone to stop by the Welcome Table in the Narthex before you enter the Sanctuary so we can greet everyone personally and make note of who’s in attendance.
  • Masks are not required inside our buildings if you are fully vaccinatied; if you are not vaccinated, please continue to wear a mask.
    • If you are fully vaccinated and feel more comfortable wearing a mask, please continue to do so.
  • Keep a mask with you - everyone who is close to one of our children will need to wear a mask since they cannot be vaccinated yet.
  • Congregational singing during worship is allowed for those who are fully-vaccinated.
  • We will not restrict where you can sit in our Sanctuary and you may sit anywhere you choose.

Volunteers
  • We always welcome persons who wish to volunteer to help before or after worship. You do not need to serve every week, but on your schedule.
  • Please use the button below for a description of what each position entails and to sign up (myFirst login needed), or contact Gina Britton.
Sunday School and Nursey
  • There will be on-campus Sunday School for adults and most are meeting in person. Some classes will also meet online only or have a hybrid format. Please check with your class facilitator for the status of your class.
  • Our nursery in Epworth Hall will be available for those who are joining us for Sunday School and on-campus worship.

Weekdays
  • Groups can resume meeting at the church during the week and masks are optional for those who are fully vaccinated.
  • While our FUMPers preschool is in session (Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.), masks are now optional for everyone while in the common areas of Bell Hall.

As always, if you have any questions or comments, please contact the church by email at contact@fumcgnv.org
or leave a message at 352-372-8523!
CHURCH OFFICE
The church office is open on their regular schedule of Monday-Thursday, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Outside of these hours, members of First UMC can access the facility by going to the side door of Bell Hall and ringing the bell.

FUMPERS PRESCHOOL
FUMPers  will continue to follow their existing COVID protocols through the end of this school year. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Lorin Winters at lorin@fumcgnv.org.

GIVING
First UMC needs your support for our continuing missions, ministries, and staff. We still need to pay to maintain our facilities and the salaries of the church staff during these times. Financial giving can be done easily online via our web site at www.fumcgnv.com/give, or through the First UMC mobile app. You may also want to consider signing up for automated giving of your tithe/offering! If you need assistance with setting this up, please call the church office at 352-372-8523 or by contacting Linda Madden at linda@fumcgnv.org.

If you are not feeling well...

  • First, remember that you are precious and beloved, and we want to make sure you are okay! Seek medical attention as needed and take care of yourself!
  • Second, let the church know that you are ill, so that we can be praying for you. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help you.
  • Third, stay home as you care for yourself. Your health is far more important than any program, project, meeting, or service! Don’t worry, we’ll be here when you’re feeling better!
