Who We Are

“Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can.”

John Wesley

What We Believe

Jesus replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
Matthew 22:37
The action we take because of our belief in these words is the cornerstone on which our faith is built. Our First UMC faith family believes that everyone, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, socio-economic condition, family structure, or physical or mental ability is a worthy child of God and we welcome and affirm everyone who comes through our doors into all aspects of the life of this congregation. We are the only congregation in the Gainesville area who is a member of the Reconciling Ministries Network - an organization that equips and mobilizes United Methodists of all sexual orientations and gender identities to resist evil, injustice, and oppression in whatever forms they present themselves.
