Adult Ministry Group Opportunities
Study, Socialize, Serve

SPRING 2019

Sunday School @ 9:45 a.m.

New Beginnings: Hymn singing and Bible study led by a team of teachers using lectures and discussions. Refreshments and warm fellowship also provided. Couples and singles; primarily 70+. Meets 1st Floor Epworth Hall - Conference Room.

Maranatha: Led by a team of teachers, participants study and engage in lively, meaningful conversations about scripture and how it shapes daily life. Couples and singles; primarily 55+. Meets 1st Floor Bell Hall- Bethany Room.

Faith Forum: Encourages questions and open conversations about faith using contemporary DVD curriculum. Couples and singles; primarily 50+. Meets 1st Floor Epworth Hall- Parlor.

New study begins on Sunday, Jan. 13. “The Divine Conspiracy” by Dallas Willard. Based on the Sermon on the Mount, this study invites participants to experience these teachings of Jesus as relevant to the “here and now”, not just the “there and then.”

Coffee Talk: Conversation about faith, current events and other life happenings and coffee!  Couples and singles; primarily 20-40’s. Meets 2nd Floor Bell Hall- Rm. 201.

WEEKDAY AND EVENING OPPORTUNITIES

Holiday Marketplace Crafting: All supplies as well as instructions are provided for everyone who'd like to help make items for November's Holiday Marketplace. First meeting of 2019 is Tuesday, February 5, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. 2nd floor Epworth Hall Rm. 211. Questions? Contact Carol Morris at (239) 595-6714.

Wednesday Night Supper and Study: Wednesday Night Dinners are back beginning on January 16 at 5:15 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall! $7 for adults, $4 for kids 10 and under and $20 family max. Please RSVP on Sunday on the Connection Cards in the pews or call the church office no later than the Monday before the Wednesday you’d like to attend. 

After dinner stay for the study,

“The New Testament You Never Knew: Exploring the Context, Purpose, and Meaning of the Story of God.” (8 weeks) Location: Epworth Hall Parlor. Time: 6:00-7:15 p.m. Readings to be done at home, approx. 2 hours a week. Questions or to RSVP: Contact susanwebb23@cox.net.

New study begins Thursday, March 28. “Creed: What Christians Believe and Why” by Adam Hamilton. Come and explore the Apostle’s Creed, a statement faith that has guided Christians throughout the centuries and continues to do so today.

UMW (United Methodist Women): A community of women whose purpose is to know God and experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative and supportive fellowship and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.  Our circles meet September - April.

First Tuesday of the month:
Daytime Circle led by Cleo Abbott at 10:00 a.m.
Meets 1st floor Bell Hall- Bethany Room

Evening Circle (Circle 5) led by Joyce Knox at 7:00 p.m. in homes.

Second Tuesday of the month:
Evening Circle (Circle 6) led by Joan Van Winkle at 5:45 p.m.

Women's Connection: This is an opportunity for women ages 20’s-40’s to relax and renew monthly through sharing snacks, stories, laughs and life. Women’s Connection meets monthly off-campus from 6:00-8:00 p.m. All are welcome to join in the fun! For more information contact Erin at bruce.erin5@gmail.com.

Ladies Night Out
Connect with a new 50+ women’s group, meeting Mondays, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Please join us for food, fun, and sharing! Also, bring $1 and an appetizer that feeds 10 to 12 people. Hospitality and Care Ministries

Hospitality and Care ministries provide love and support during the joys and trials of life. Learn more about where you can find support or volunteer to assist others with the support that they need.

Church Bus Ministry: Provides transportation each Sunday from Senior Living communities around Gainesville to and from the 11:00 a.m. worship service as well as other church trips as needed. New drivers with a CDL license (or who are willing to get one) are always welcome! For more details, contact April Zink at (352) 262-3455 or aprilzink@aol.com.    

Faithful Friends Team: Provides care such as visits, calls and cards to those who are no longer able to come to church due to health and/or mobility issues. For more details, contact Chris Hoffman at choffmann51@cox.net or (352) 278-2458.

Family Life Team: Provides hospitality for many church wide events throughout the year. They also care for families who have lost a loved one by providing funeral/memorial service receptions in our Fellowship Hall.  For more details, contact Harriet Wise at hhwise11@yahoo.com or (352) 727-8363.

Lunch Bunch: A monthly gathering of older adults for food and fellowship, featuring shared devotions and a free meal. For more details, email Peggy Halsey phalsey1444@msn.com
